The
Giclee printing process represents an elevation in printmaking
technology. The term is
French and the process begins with a high resolution digital scan.
The process allows for printing onto many surfaces including
traditional watercolor paper. As
watercolor paper is quite absorbent, great finesse is required to
achieve the proper ink saturation. The professional who has done the
balancing for the prints which I have already produced is an
accomplished painter himself and is particularly sensitive to color
profiling issues.
The
process allows the printing of small numbers of prints at a relatively
reasonable price. The
quality of the prints is outstanding and the prints are virtually
unrecognizable from the originals. The
prints will be numbered and individually signed. The
quality of the prints is archival; they will last perhaps longer than
originals. |
